We’re currently away and enjoying the last of the summer holidays but I’ve been teaching my children all about water safety at the beach, especially my middle one who is 3 and has no fear!
The most common time for an accident to happen especially with toddlers/small children is within the first hour of arriving at the beach as parents are distracted unpacking and setting up. We’re all guilty of this, so I grabbed the snack bag sat all 3 down whilst we unpacked.
It’s recommended to always visit a beach that has lifeguards especially with young children.
Always swim between the red and yellow flags
Avoid inflatables in open water they can blow you out to sea
Go with somebody especially if your planning on going for a swim
Do not swim or jump near rocks or off piers
If you find yourself in trouble don’t swim you will exhaust yourself, try and FLOAT instead.
Let’s enjoy the last of the summer holidays and the bank holiday. But keep safe, stay hydrated, wear sun screen and avoid the hottest part of the day!
